My Town: Kentwood concert with Grand Rapids Symphony April 1

KENTWOOD, Mich.-- On Tuesday, April 1, the East Kentwood High School Symphony Orchestra and select members of EKHS Symphonic Wind Ensemble will have the opportunity to play alongside members of the Grand Rapids Symphony.

As a member of  the Kentwood Public School instrumental program, each student will get a chance to perform two pieces while sitting side-by-side with a professional musician.  For their conductor, the students will have the pleasure of working with John Varineau, associate conductor of the Grand Rapids Symphony.

The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. inside the EKHS Fine Arts Auditorium and is open to the public.  No tickets are needed, but donations are encouraged.  Proceeds from the concert will go towards supporting EKHS's instrumental music program and to help pay for the dinner students will attend with the symphony.
