KENTWOOD, Mich.--  It’s March but the City of Kentwood is already looking to July and its annual Independence Day Celebration.

The Kentwood Parks and Recreation Department is once again teaming up with the Kentwood Jaycees for this year’s event, which will include fireworks, a 5k run, parade, all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast, carnival and music.

Organizers have launched their “Light The Spark” campaign to fund the celebration.  Those interested in donating can visit the fund raising page  or  by participating and donating during the following events:

Friday, April 25:  Zumbathon - Are you ready to sweat for Kentwood? For one donation, enjoy two hours of fun, fast-paced Latin dancing! Details to come.

Saturday, May 17: Road Rally & Picnic - Gather up a team of brains and brawns for this city-wide scavenger hunt. More information coming soon.

Monday, May 19: Kentwood Golf Outing- Get your foursome together for a great day on the green. Fee includes nine holes and much more. More information to come.
