ABC Orchestra from East Kentwood High School Performs at Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

ABC Orchestra from East Kentwood High School capped an exciting Memorial Day weekend in Cleveland, Ohio by performing at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.   ABC Orchestra took the main stage Sunday, May 29th, at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and played to a very large and excited crowd.  Audience members were impressed with the professionalism and passion these students had for music.   ABC stands for “Anything But Classical”.  This group plays alternative string music styles such as fiddling, jazz and rock.

The residents of Broadview Multi-Care Center, a medical senior care facility, were also treated to a performance by ABC Orchestra.   The students performed an hour long set of music for a very appreciative audience.  Once the performance was done, the members of ABC did a meet and greet with the residents and learned about their lives and families.

Great Spot to Read

Great Spot to Read

A quiet spot right off of 28th St? You'd call me crazy, and probably for good reason. But there's a small park with a fountain, benches, and often ducks, right in Kentwood, just off of 28th St on Woodlawn. It's a great spot to read and relax.

Hollywood Undead at the Orbit Room this Wednesday!

Hollywood Undead at the Orbit Room this Wednesday!

I was pumped when I heard one of my  favorite bands, Hollywood Undead, will be playing at the Orbit Room in Grand Rapids this Wednesday May 25th! If you're not familiar with the band, they're a mix of rock and hip hop. They're also one of my motivating artists when it's time to hit the gym or go for  a long run. They'll be debuting their new album American Tragedy along with some of my old favorites. It's an all ages show with tickets starting at $25.00. Other bands scheduled to play are 10 years, Drive A, and New Medicine. It sounds like the show will be well worth the price of admission!

Tickets on-sale Friday at 10am. Doors at 6:00pm.

Pulling A Ferris Bueller: Tooling Around in Classic Cars

Pulling A Ferris Bueller: Tooling Around in Classic Cars

If you ever saw the movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off then you know it is a story of some friends that skip school, "borrow" a classic car, and tool around Chicago. Since I have no school to skip, and missing work has real consequences not to mention my supervisor might be reading this, I decided on "borrowing" a classic car and tooling around Cutlerville with some friends.  I am lucky that I just happen to have access to a collection of ready to drive classic cars and I figure I am doing the car a favor because cars need to be driven in order to be maintained.  In this case the car of choice was a 1962 Black Lincoln Continental Convertible.
