Fine Arts Festival Fun in Kentwood

Fine Arts Festival Fun in Kentwood

Kentwood Public Schools showcased many different forms of the arts at all three middle schools last week.  Some very talented students from all the schools in the district, grades K-12, created art work, sang, played instruments, acted and danced to show off their many talents and hard work.  Monday evening the Fine Arts Festival was at Valleywood Middle School.  Wednesday evening it was at Crestwood Middle School.  Friday evening it was at Pnewood Middle School.  Congratulations to all of the students on a job well done.  A few pictures highlighting the festival are displayed below.  Photos provided courtesy of www.swobodapics.com.

East Kentwood High School fielded a Winter Guard Unit for the first time this year.  Winter Guard is an indoor competition that is similar to the Color Guard in marching bands.  Unit members utilize flags, sabers, mock rifles and other props in a choreographed routine involving dance and interpretive movement.  The routine is performed to recorded music.  East Kentwood’s team performed a routine to the song Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield.  The team was under the direction of Laura Burk and James Sawyer.  Members are:  Trevor Baird, Janet DeMeester, Amber Welch, Hope Stutzman, Jordan Sears, Jenny Scholl and Caitlin Maag.  They competed against several other teams from Michigan.  Congratulations on a successful first season!
