The City of Kentwood is, once again, able to utilize our Public Works facilities for the leaf dump operations this year. The leaf dump shares a location with the Recycling Center located at 5068 Breton Avenue, east off of Breton, north of 52nd Street and south of City Hall. The leaf dump is in an enclosed area and will be manned with set hours of operation, subject to change as we proceed through the fall. The hours of operation will be Monday through Saturday, 10 AM until 8 PM.  On Sundays, the hours of operation are from 12 noon until 6 PM. The leaf dump will open Saturday, October 15, 2011 and close on Saturday December 3, 2011.

Similar to past years, the leaf disposal service is available to Kentwood residents only. Staff will ask to see some proof of residency to allow for use of the leaf dump. Any County residents, however, will be allowed to use the Recycling Center for the disposal of paper, plastic, metal containers, etc. in accordance with the Recycling Center disposal criteria. No commercial haulers are allowed to dispose of leaves in this area. Leaves must be removed from all containers and bags when deposited in the area. The City only has state authorization for leaf disposal, so other yard waste such as grass clippings, tree branches, dead plants, etc. cannot be accepted. It is recommended to bring leaves on “off-hours”, if possible as Saturday mornings seem to be a popular time and you may encounter lines.
