Wyoming-Kentwood Area Chamber of Commerce 2011 Grub Crawl on May 19

The Wyoming-Kentwood Area Chamber of Commerce (WKACC) is excited to announce that their 2011 Grub Crawl will be on Thursday, May 19th from 5:30 to 10 pm.

Are you wondering what a Grub Crawl is?

The 2011 Grub Crawl is a food & drink sampling tour featuring scrumptious hors d’oeuvres and special libations, presented by about 8 restaurants located in a corridor along 28th Street, east of the East Beltline into Cascade stopping at two of our members’ establishments. Participants in the Grub Crawl will be transported by buses, on a continuous circuit between the participating restaurants, with stops at each restaurant every 15 minutes. Host restaurants will have food samples for you to taste and drink specials to purchase throughout the event. Grub Crawlers may remain at each location for as little or as long as they desire.

Not your average Sub!

Not your average Sub!

My wife and I often purchase Groupons and try new restaurants. One of our recent ventures took us to Boardwalk subs in Grand Rapids. They have some of the best tasting sandwiches I’ve ever had! I suggest you stop in to one of their two locations and try a #8 which comes with ham, capicola, salami, prostitini, pepperoni & cheese!

The Indecisive Night Out: How I learned to try something new

The Indecisive Night Out: How I learned to try something new

How many of you had this conversation?  "Where do you want to go to eat?  I don't know you pick? No, I asked you.  Well, what are you in the mood for?  I don't know.  Bahh."  In my family this happens a lot.  It also means we end up eating at the same restaurant without really trying something new.  I have a solution that will let you pick a place to eat that can also be quite fun.  It is called the "Random Number Game."

The Best Part of Waking Up - Coffee

The Best Part of Waking Up - Coffee

It is only in the last two years that I discovered how great coffee can really be, and how absolutely abysmal most places are. Now, I am not talking about lattes, mochas, or what have you.  I am talking about coffee flavored coffee.  That morning pick me up that leaves you wanting more. I also don't have a coffee maker at home, and even if I did I don't give myself time in the morning to make it.  I live near 68th and Clyde Park.  This means I am not near a coffee shop like Bigby or Starbucks.  My choices are McDonalds, Wendy's, Burger King, and two gas stations.  After sampling over the last two years I bring you my results.  I don't like sugar in my coffee typically and I always take it with one cream.  At Burger King the coffee is ok.  It tastes a little watered down, and when I order it with cream they give me the cream separate.  This means I have to pull over, take off the lid, and add the cream.

I Crave Pizza - Who Doesn't?

I Crave Pizza - Who Doesn't?

If you are anything like me, and the average American, pizza is in the top 5 best foods of all time.  I would place it as the number one greatest food of all time. Who knew dough, tomatoes, sauce, cheese, and meat could come together to create a perfect utensil free food.  Now pizza comes in all kinds of different styles.  A trip to Joe's Chicago Pizza on 4693 Wilson Avenue SW, Suite A, Grandville, MI will get you some amazing Chicago style true deep dish where one slice is equal to other guys whole pizza. You get a massive 24 incher at Palermos enough to find an army on 901 Gezon Pkwy SW # E Wyoming, MI.  There are places that give you exotic flavors, flavored crusts, sauce on top, gluten-free, wood fired, and more.  These are all good, but my current pizza place of choice might shock the true pizza connoisseur.
