Todd Wenzel Automotive Group announces the acquisition of their fourth Michigan GM dealership, Red Holman Buick GMC in Westland. This purchase represents the third Buick GMC dealership for Todd Wenzel. The first, located in Grand Rapids, was obtained in 2001 followed by a Chevrolet franchise in Hudsonville in 2004 and a second Buick GMC dealership in Davison in 2014.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to serve the Westland and Metro Detroit communities,” said Todd Wenzel, “We look forward to maintaining the excellent reputation the team at Red Holman has built.”

Visitors can tour the new, state-of-the art Design Studio that showcases a welcome area where homebuyers can share their life story and vision for their new home.  It also features everything from cabinets and countertops to siding and shingles while providing the latest technology to help homebuyers plan and customize their new homes.  Among the highlights is a 3D viewer that allows homebuyers to see their home plans take shape before their eyes so they will know exactly what their new home will look like before it’s ever built.

Ventures, along with the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce will be cutting the ribbon promptly at 11:30 am this morning for the Grand Opening of Fox Subaru, a state-of-the-art, 25,000 square foot stand-alone Subaru dealership and 3,200 square foot detail center located at 6045 28th Street, Grand Rapids, MI.The new Fox Subaru facility includes express service lanes that are dedicated to basic maintenance including oil changes and tire rotations. The express lanes decrease wait times and improves the ability to make basic maintenance easier and more convenient for customers. New technological advancements include LED super-efficient lighting throughout the facility, Hormann high-speed service doors and upgraded outdoor display areas with heated pads.

KENTWOOD, Mich.—Shoppers on 28th Street have a new dining option.

West Michigan Saladworks opened a second location last week.  The new restaurant is located in Centerpointe Mall at 3569 28th Street SE.  It’s open 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
 

Tim and Julie Calderone opened their first West Michigan Saladworks franchise on Ionia Avenue in downtown Grand Rapids last August. The restaurant features fresh made-to-order salads, sandwiches and soups.

My Town: What 2015 will hold for West Michigan's economy

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.--- Consumers in West Michigan are more optimistic about what 2015 will bring.

In fact, consumers in this market are the most optimistic in the region, according to a new study released by Huntington Bank.  The financial firm found local residents say they are much more likely to buy a new vehicle this year; 17 percent said they plan to purchase a new car, compared to just four percent in 2014.

Home improvement stores may also be busy; 47-percent of West Michiganders surveyed for the Huntington Bank Midwest Economic Index said they were planning some home renovations for 2015, compared to 32 percent in 2014.

My Town: Meijer shoppers receive checkout surprise

WALKER, Mich.—Christmas came early to 213 Meijer shoppers, who received a checkout surprise.

 

On Dec. 13, the Walker-based retailer paid for all of the gifts and groceries filling each shopper’s cart, ranging from $350 to $1,200 each.  The company posted video of the event on YouTube, which you can find here.

 

“The holidays are a time for kindness and joy, and the Very Merry Meijer event was a perfect opportunity for us to share the spirit of the season with those we hold dear: our customers,” Co-Chairman Hank Meijer said. “Our family has always believed that our customers don’t need us, but that we need them. That philosophy still guides us today. We are very thankful for our customers, and wanted to find a special way to wish them a very Merry Christmas.”
