West Mich. group goes for board game record

KENTWOOD, Mich. (WZZM) -- A group in Kentwood is trying to set a record for the longest time playing a board game.

They're at Out of the Box, a board game store on South Division Ave. near 52nd St.

They're planning to play for 62 hours; they started at 8 o'clock Monday morning and intend to keep going until Wednesday night around 10 o'clock.

The game they're playing is called Descent: Journeys in the Dark. It's similar to Dungeons and Dragons.

"We're going to be here cheering them on, because between 9 and 10 o'clock they'll break the record and establish a new one; that'll be fun tomorrow night," said store manager Mel Vander Bie. "We'd love to have a big group here to cheer them on and to be a part of it, actually."

The players are allowed a five-minute break for every hour of play, and they will not get any sleep.
